High-tech opens up completely new possibilities for blind and visually impaired transport users!
At SightCity in Frankfurt, the use of smartphones will be presented to you in a wide variety of ways by both start-up companies and established “old hands”. They will show you, for example, how objects can be recognized and assigned with the help of smartphones. There are also apps that trigger information in local public transport and are already being used successfully in Halle an der Saale, Kiel and Saarbrücken.
One topic that literally always gets in the way of blind and visually impaired people is the construction site. As a person affected, how do I find my way through the construction site? How do I find my way across a so-called trench bridge - a short bridge that is used, for example, where cables are being laid?
There are smart solutions to these and many other issues, which of course must always go hand in hand with the core statement of the German Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, which states that existing aids such as floor indicators or traffic light signals must not disappear, of course, but can be supplemented by new digital technologies.
On level 3 of the Kap Europa Congress Center at Messe Frankfurt, you can test the possibilities that are possible with smartphones live, using models. We look forward to lively feedback!
The exhibition will be accompanied by specialist presentations by the network partners. Take a look at the lecture program here:
