The starting signal has been given! Around 25,000 e-scooters from the Estonian multi-mobility provider Bolt have been equipped with LOC.id technology and now announce themselves as soon as a user with an active LOC.id app on their smartphone approaches. Initially, Bolt e-scooters were equipped in the cities of Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Munich, Stuttgart, Cologne, Solingen, Neuss, and Mönchengladbach. Berlin and Bremen will follow in June. The signal that is emitted varies in intensity and volume depending on the distance of the approaching person, thus enabling a concrete localisation.
It is important to note that this function is a free extension of the LOC.id app, which can be activated for pre-authorised users. This is neccessary to prevent misuse.
